#OnThisDay 18 December 1849 an application from the Director of the Sydney Railway Company was laid before the Executive Council for the building of Sydney Railway Station. The first terminal station, built on Gadigal land, was situated between Devonshire and Cleveland Streets (present day Central Station) and was opened in 1855.
