Chief executives of NSW public offices have specific obligations under the State Records Act 1998:
The chief executive of each public office has a duty to ensure that the public office complies with the requirements of this Act and the regulations and that the requirements of this Act and the regulations with respect to State records that the public office is responsible for are complied with."

New leaflet for CEOS: Why is Recordkeeping Important?
Records and information are at the core of government business and are core assets. In NSW public offices, records and information help organisations plan for and achieve short and long term outcomes that are relevant and valuable to the community, business and government.
This new leaflet covers the key benefits of recordkeeping and is designed to assist Chief Executives understand why recordkeeping is important.

Senior Executive Fundamentals
The Public Service Commission has launched a resource for senior executives called Senior Executive Fundamentals. The website includes an Obligations section with a page devoted to records management which outlines the importance of managing records efficiently and effectively to support service delivery, good governance and accountability. This page was developed with input from NSW State Archives and Records and outlines senior executives' responsibilities under the State Records Act 1998, key benefits of good recordkeeping, the requirement to establish a records management program, and what senior executives need to do. This page is an excellent resource for anyone working in recordkeeping who needs to promote records management programs within their organisation.

State Archives and Records NSW' Future Proof strategy helps NSW public offices manage and keep digital records by offering guidance and advice to all public offices. Future Proof indicates a change in government recordkeeping that affects a wider range of professionals beyond records management and aligns its aims with the broader information management environment.
A newsletter designed specifically for chief executives maintains chief executives' awareness of the Future Proof strategy and ensures they stay up to date with new guidance and how changes will affect their public office.
Future proof: news for NSW public sector chief executives is issued annually to all NSW public sector chief executives.
Ad infinitum: news for NSW public sector chief executives from State Records
Ad infinitum was an occasional newsletter for NSW public sector chief executives issued between 2003 and 2005. It contained brief updates and news from State Records on all aspects of the keeping and management of records in the public sector.
Ad infinitum is no longer in production. Copies of issues 1-4 are available on OpenGov.
