#OnThisDay 7 January 1965 the first hydrofoil ferry, the MV Manly, began operating in Sydney Harbour. It ran a regular passenger service between Circular Quay and Manly. The express service took about 17 minutes compared to over half an hour on the normal ferry.

Thursday 20 August 1908 witnessed the arrival of the United States of America fleet at Port Jackson, Sydney. This was part of a round the world cruise by the fleet which had originally set out on 16 December 1907.
On the 19th of March 1932 the Sydney Harbour Bridge was officially opened. We have created a video montage from the photo albums in our collection showing the construction.
